Soon after, on the eve of Hallowe’en, on the cliffs of Dun Aonghusa, Caleb is mesmerized and instantly smitten by the beautiful girl he encounters there; Coco, standing too close to the cliff edge, and deeply troubled, he soon learns that she is Henri’s daughter. Instantly drawn to one another, Caleb’s sadness and grief begins to lift, but when Budgie hears of Henri's presence, she warns Caleb to stay away from him, for through the annals of her ancestor, Aoife Mullen, Budgie knows that it is not the first time a De Rais has set foot on Aran, and with an overpowering sense of déja vu, she feels a storm brewing. As the vampire, Lucius de Rais, possesses Coco’s father Henri, compelling him to harm his own daughter, Budgie's fears for the young ones are realized as they become entwined in a frightening ordeal that links them forever through the historical legacy of their bloodlines.
